Kim Kardashian became single on Wednesday, nearly eight years after her marriage to Kanye West.
Kardashian appeared by video conference and was sworn in at a Los Angeles court.
Judge Steve Cochran asked him a series of questions, including “is it your wish to become a single person?”

Kardashian answered “yes” to all of them.
“It’s granted,” Cochran said.
The judge’s decision, known as a bifurcation, allows someone in the midst of a messy divorce to become legally single while property and child custody issues are resolved.

Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, did not attend or participate in the hearing remotely.
He had opposed the decision, but Cochran overruled it.
The judge also finalized West’s removal of Kardashian’s name.

Kardashian, 41, filed for divorce a year ago. Two months later, Ye, 44, filed her answer, in which she agreed on all the main points, including child custody. There were no ownership disputes as there was a prenuptial agreement.
Neither has publicly discussed the split, until recently, when Ye began speaking out on social media against Kardashian, her family and boyfriend Pete Davidson.
Among his complaints was that he was not allowed to make important parenting decisions and was excluded from birthday parties and other events for his four children.
